Sean Hayes, a Best Actor Tony Award nominee for Promises, Promises, has been tapped to host the 2010 Tony ceremony at Radio City Music Hall. The three-hour telecast will air live on CBS on June 13.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards,” Hayes said in a statement. “As the new guy on Broadway, it's an honor to be included in the established alumni.”
In addition to his Tony nomination for playing the lead role of Chuck Baxter in Promises, Promises, Hayes is an Emmy winner (and received six Emmy nominations) and a four-time Screen Actors Guild Award winner for playing Jack McFarland on TV's Will & Grace. He made his New York stage debut in the Encores! 2008 summer production of Damn Yankees. Other TV credits include Martin & Lewis (in which Hayes received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for playing Jerry Lewis) and guest roles on Scrubs and 30 Rock. Film credits include The Bucket List, Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss, Pieces of April, The Cat in the Hat and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton.
